Bhubaneswar, Dec 15 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday extended the Food Security program in the state by another five years.
The State Food Security Program will now be extended from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028.
Chief Minister’s office sources here said the state government will spend Rs 1250 crore from its own resources at the rate of Rs 250 crore per year in the next five years for the extension of the Food Security Program.
Patnaik directed officials to ensure that not a single poor individual in the state is deprived of the Food Security program.
As many as 9,97,055 people belonging to 3,14,923 families are covered under the state Food Security program, in which each beneficiary gets 5 kg of rice per month for free.
