Maharashtra Govt renames two major bridges in Mumbai

Mumbai, June 28 : Maharashtra government on Wednesday renamed two major bridges in Mumbai.

The government has renamed the Versova Bandra Sea Link as Veer Savarkar Setu while the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Road has been renamed as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.

The decision to rename the bridges was made during a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

They also made other important decisions at the meeting.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Veer Savarkar Jayanti, which falls on May 28, had told the media that they will be naming the Bandra-Versova Sea Link after VD Savarkar and that it will be named Veer Savarkar Setu.

The cabinet decided to acquire a plot in Dharavi for the Mumbai Metro 3 route and finalized the eligibility criteria for the huts and stall owners to be included under the BDD Chawl redevelopment project. Also, the cabinet gave a nod for the deemed university status for the Sir JJ College of Arts and Architecture.

Among other important decisions, the cabinet granted permission to the expenditure of Rs 210 crore to start affordable dispensaries with the name HinduHridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapala Dawakhana at 700 places across the state.
