Balasore, Dec,11 : Special judge POCSO Ranjan Kumar Sutar on Monday convicted a rape accused and sentenced him 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000.
In default of the fine amount, the convict would further undergo another 2 years jail term, the
judge ordered.
The accused identified as Pradip Bangari of Bhaskarganj Village under Sahadevkhunta police station had committed sexual offences in August 2023 against a minor girl of the locality.
The mother of the victim girl lodged an FIR with police and the accused was arrested following investigation and tried under section 376(AB) of IPC and 6 of POCSO Act .
The court had examined 13 witnesses and 29 exhibits and sentenced and pronounced the judgment under the POCSO act , Special Public Prospector Pranab Panda said.
