What has come out through several media platforms on the happenings at a private school in Muzaffarnagar at Neha Public school may be one of the such bizarre incidents scripted by one Tripta Tyagi, teacher.
Mistakes he did but the punishments was beyond any comprehension when he was being beaten by a few students mercilessly.
Instances of brutal punishments meted out to students are on the rise making a mockery of the law against corporal punishment as a cognizable offence.
What is worrisome that, kids are being hit hard on the face(slaps on the cheek) leading to even children being admitted in hospitals.
Worse was what Tripta Tyagi did asking students to rain fists, kicks and slaps on the boy from a minority community all over the body. Mohammedan ko zor zor se maaro…this version of the accused teacher has become most outrageous that smacks of a communal contagion.
Rather the victim’s parents showed the
magnanimity by not filing a police complaint initially to avoid any possible communal harmony.
The school is owned by Tripta Tyagi, the teacher who is accused of making communal remarks and ordering the children to hit their classmate – ostensibly because he got his multiplication tables wrong.
“Yes I saw the video of my son being hit. They hit him for an hour…We were reluctant to file a complaint as we didn’t want communal amity to be harmed. I’m sure our communal harmony will remain,” the father said.
We have chosen not to disclose the names of the child and his family in order to protect his identity.
“They beat him so much. His face and waist were all red because of being beaten. I got very angry seeing the video of my child being hit”.
The mother further recounted that she went and confronted the teacher regarding what happened but the teacher replied, “I’m not in the mood to fight”.
The teacher, Tripta Tyagi, says she had no intention of making this a communal issue and alleged that the video has been distorted.
“I am handicapped so I can’t get up hit a child. That’s why I thought I can get other children to give him one or two slaps,” she told the media.
Tyagi happens to be the principal of the school as well.
On being asked why she singled out the child for being ‘Mohammedan’, she said, “I was only telling the other children that Mohammedan mothers go to their parents’ home and the child’s studies get harmed”.
She says she regrets what happened as “the issue got blown out of proportion”.
A video of the incident went viral on Friday, leading to calls for action against the teacher and the school. In the video, asking the classmates to beat the boy, Tyagi is heard purportedly saying, “Maine toh declare kar diya, jitne bhi Mohammedan bachche hain, inke wahan chale jao (I have declared — all these Muslim children, go to anyone’s area)…” says a report in The Indian Express
At last an FIR has been filed against the accused teacher Tripta Tyagi, who owns the school located in an abject and unhealthy location in a half constructed building, with debilitated ceilings, sources said.
