Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 : In a very shocking incident a three-year-old girl was raped and murdered in a slum under the Airfield Police station of Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police on Monday night.
Sources said the accused first sexually assaulted the girl and then killed her to hide the crime and fled from the Police.
Police said the culprit has been identified and efforts are on to nab him at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the BJP Mahila Morcha activists stormed into the police station on Tuesday and threatened to hit the street if the culprit is not arrested within 24 hours.
In another incident a woman who owned an eatery was stabbed to death by some unidentified criminals at Gothapatna market under Chandaka police limits on Monday night.
Police identified the deceased as Sasmita Behera.
The reason behind the murder is not yet known.
Police is inquiring into the incident.
