Bhubaneswar, July 26 : Cyber criminals have not spared even the Odisha Chief Secretary to earn money illegally.

Chief Secretary’s office source here said a fake telephone number using the photo of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, is asking people to pay some bills or remit some money.

The Chief Secretary’s office here clarified that there is no such number of Chief Secretary.

The Chief Secretary never asks anyone to pay any bill on his behalf or remit money to any account.

It requested people to remain alert and careful about such messages.

Anybody receiving any such message is requested to inform the cyber police station or the nearest police station.

The Chief Secretary will not remain accountable for any transaction done based on these fake messages.

Further, the Chief Secretary’s office requested citizens to remain vigilant about such social media messages coming from accounts bearing photos of administrators, Ministers or renowned persons.

The cyber cheats are seen taking the new trick of using photos of senior administrative officers and popular persons on social media like WhatsApp.

The Chief Secretary’s office made the request after it came to know that a fake telephone number bearing number 9315641784 using the photo of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra is asking people to pay some bills or remit some money.
