Assam Govt. Appoints Lovlina Borgohain As DSP

Guwahati, Jan 12: Assam government on Wednesday appointed Tokyo Olympics bronze
medalist Lovlina Borgohain as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the appointment letter to the boxer who
has been appointed as DSP in the state at a function held at Assam Secretariat in Guwahati.
Lovlina Borgohain became the third Indian boxer to finish on the Olympic podium after
six-time world champion M C Mary Kom and Vijender Singh.
In September last year, Assam chief minister had presented a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the
Olympic boxing bronze medalist and offered the post of DSP in the state police at a felicitation programme held in Guwahati.
On October 29 last year, the Assam cabinet approved the appointment of Olympic
medal-winning boxer Lovlina Borgohain as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of
Assam Police.
