STF of Odisha police nab two peddlers, recover 1.335 kg brown sugar worth over Rs.1.30 crore

Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: The STF of Odisha police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 1335 gms brown sugar worth over Rs.1.30 crore from their possession.

STF sources on Sunday said, on the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by STF team from Bhubaneswar with the help of Cuttack District Police near Ansupa Lake under Banki Police Station on Saturday evening against illegal possession of Narcotic Drugs.

During the raid two drug peddlers – Jumesh Kumar and Hemant Kumar Pradhan were apprehended and during the search contraband brown sugar weighing more than 1 Kg 335 gram (1335 gm), one car and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from their possession.

Since the accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, they were arrested and will be forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Cuttack.

A case U/s 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered against the two drug peddlers.
Since 2020, STF has seized more than 65 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 111 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 gram and arrested more than 165 drug peddlers.
