Sea Phase Of Indian Navy’s Milan 2022 Begins

New Delhi, March 2: The Sea Phase of Indian Navy’s multinational naval exercise, Milan 2022 commenced in Bay of Bengal with participation of 26 ships, 21 aircraft and one submarine. This phase, which commenced on Tuesday, is scheduled till March 4 and includes advanced and complex exercises covering all three dimensions of maritime operations, the Indian Navy said.

The Sea Phase of Milan 2022 aims to enhance interoperability and maritime cooperation, and share best practices amongst the participating navies, it further said. According to the Navy, the schedule of the Sea Phase includes weapon firings, seamanship evolutions, advanced anti-submarine warfare exercises, cross deck helicopter landings, simulation of complex operational scenarios and tactical manoeuvres.

The pre-sail Combined Briefing was presided by the Rear Adm Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet and attended by senior officers and planning teams of all participating Navies. The Indian Navy is showcasing its prowess and indigenisation capabilities in the multinational wargame which involves participation of over 40 countries. Milan 2022 is being conducted in two phases. The harbour phase concluded on February 28. The Sea Phase will go on till March 4, 2022. The theme of the exercise is ‘Camaraderie – Cohesion – Collaboration’ which aims to project India as a responsible maritime power before the world.
