PM Security Breach: Delhi HC To Hear PIL On April 30

New Delhi, Jan 24: The Delhi High Court on Monday listed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the military and civilian authority to work under the superintendence of SPG in view of the circumstances to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister and his family, for hearing on April 30.
The petition, filed by Ashish Kumar, was listed before a Bench comprising Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh. The PIL demanded necessary directions to the Government of India and others regarding the security of the Prime Minister.
Advocate Amit Mahajan, appearing for the Central government, informed the bench that a PIL related to the PM’s security was already pending before the Supreme Court. He said the Apex Court had constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge of the apex court. Stating that the Apex Court was awaiting the report by this committee, the High Court directed the matter to be listed for hearing on April 30. A PIL was filed in the Supreme Court in an alleged lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Punjab visit on January 5, 2022.
