Murmu’s Campaign Postponed To July 12

Gangtok, July 9: Due to the day long National mourning announced in memory of deceased former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, NDA’s Presidential candidate Draupdi Murmu has postponed her Poll Campaign in Sikkim.

She was to have meeting with Legislators of Sikkim Assembly on July 9(today) but now she would meet them on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in a hotel in Siliguri. The meeting would be preceded by a welcome ceremony at Bagdogra Airport, West Bengal.

Also Murmu’s scheduled visit to Kolkata on Saturday has been cancelled following the Centre’s decision to observe a national day of mourning as a mark of respect to Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of Japan who died after being shot.

A press statement was issued by the West Bengal unit of the BJP on Saturday morning where it informed the media about the decision to postpone the visit, adding that it will be rescheduled .

“As a mark of respect to former Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, a one-day national mourning shall be observed on July 9. Therefore, all programs of NDA Presidential Candidate Draupadi Murmu stands cancelled for July 9, 2022,” the press statement read.

As per the original schedule, she was supposed to have a close-door meeting with 69 elected party legislators in the state.

There was also a likelihood of her visit to the West Bengal Assembly.
