Odisha to be developed as Skill workforce hub of world- Preetiranjan Gharai

Bhubaneswar, April 11: Odisha government will organize the Odisha Skill Conclave 2023, the first of its kind in India, with the theme “Skilling for the New World” on April 20-22.


Addressing newsmen here on Monday state Skill Development and Technical education minister Preetiranjan Gharai said the conclave will be a platform to deliberate, build consensus, and develop a road map for future courses of action to develop Odisha as a skilled workforce hub for the New World.


Odisha government has taken various transformational initiatives for setting up a progressive ecosystem to facilitate Industries Sector growth through policy reforms, infrastructure development and skilling Gharai said ‘Skilled- in Odisha has been recognized as a global brand in the TVET eco-system.


This aspirational vision of the State and the untiring efforts of all stakeholders have enabled a ‘Skilled-in-Odisha’ trainee to win the first-ever Gold Medal from India at the World Skills Competition, 2019.


The minister said through this conclave, the Government strives to engage with delegates comprising Industry, Academia, Training Partners, Sector Skills Councils, International organizations, Country Specific Representatives and Skill Ambassadors from the State.


The Conclave, he said will provide a unique opportunity to display Odisha’s achievements in skilling, conducive ambience and the vast existing and emerging opportunities across sectors.
The inaugural day will have a plenary session discussion on Building a coherent Skill Ecosystem in India and the Commendation of Skilled Manpower.


On the next day the discussion will focus on Making India the Skill Capital of the World and empowering Women through Skills shall take place.
A special session and exhibit on drone technology as well as a discussion on the role of Sector Skill Councils is planned for April 22, Gharai said.


SDTE Principal Secretary Usha Padhi said that the event will see participation from renowned international and national dignitaries, intellectuals and industry representatives active in skilling in the plenary discussions.
The event will also witness a congregation of 2000 plus students and over 1000 delegates from industry, academia and government sector.


The event will host over 100 exhibits from ITIs/ Polytechnics/ Engineering Colleges/ Universities as well as from prominent industries and other Departments of Government.
The Conclave will also witness the signing of various vital MoUs with industry partners regarding skilling in the state, the minister said.
