Boat Tragedy In Jharkhand’s Koderma: Six Bodies Recovered, Two Missing
Koderma, July 18: Six bodies have been recovered from Penchkhero dam on Monday after a boat capsized in Jharkhand’s Koderma district a day earlier, leaving eight people missing.
Teams of NDRF are meanwhile continuing their search for the remaining two bodies.
The bodies which have been recovered so far are that of Sitaram Yadav (40) Sejal Kumari (16) Palak Kumari (14) Amit Kumar Singh (14) Rahul Kumar (16) and Shivam Kumar (17).
Locals said nine members of a family hailing from Kheto village had come for sight-seeing at the dam and went for the ill-fated boat ride.
Local divers and boatmen have been pressed into service to look for the missing people.
Somehow the boatman and one Pradeep Singh managed to swim back to land while eight others were drowned. The boatman later fled from the spot.
Meanwhile, Koderma SP Kumar Gaurav and other senior officials are still camping at the spot.
