Bengal’s Former Ranji Trophy Cricketer Raja Mukherjee Passes Away

Kolkata, July 18: Bengal’s former Ranji Trophy cricketer Raja Mukherjee, who represented the state in 34 first-class matches between the 60s and 70s, passed away on Monday in a city hospital here, family sources said.
He breathed his last in the city hospital early on Monday. He was 71.
Born May 17, 1951, Raja Mukherjee played 34 first-class matches for Bengal and scored 1526 runs between 1967 and 1979.
He began his playing career only at 14 for Ballygunge United and in Cooch Behar trophy he scored 154 runs against Odisha.
He also represented India as captain in school cricket against England.
He also played for the Railways in the Ranji Trophy in the 1970-71 seasons.
