LS Adjourned For The Day

New Delhi, July 18: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Monday, the first day of the Monsoon Session, amid protests over price rise and the Agnipath scheme.

The House was first adjourned around half hour after new members took oath and obituary references were made.

When the House met again at 2 pm, The Family Courts (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the House.

Soon after, Congress MPs started protesting against price rise and increase in GST.
In the morning, after the House met, recently elected Lok Sabha members took oath. Speaker Om Birla congratulated them and said that there was no vacant seat in the House at present.

Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal, an ally of ruling BJP, also trooped near the Speaker’s podium with a placard demanding rollback of the Agnipath scheme.
Soon after, Rajendra Agrawal, who was in the Chair, adjourned the House for the day.
Earlier, in the first half, four new members — BJP’s Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi from Rampur and Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirauha’ from Azamgarh, TMC’s Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol and Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann from Sangrur — took oath.

Birla also paid tribute to former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated on July 8.
