MCU Introduces Its First Muslim Superhero With Drop Of Ms Marvel Trailer

Los Angeles, March 16 : With the launch of its latest trailer, the MCU has added another superhero to its already massive roster. In Disney + latest upcoming series “Ms Marvel” marks the first Muslim American superhero in Marvel history and will star Pakistani-Canadian actress Iman Vallani as the titular Ms Marvel’s alter ego Kamala Khan. The trailer showcases a much brighter side of the Marvel universe as Kamala who is a high school student fantasizes and fangirls over the Avengers, particularly over Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers and struggles to fit in almost anywhere until she gets her powers. In a significant alteration from the comics, the show has altered Kamala’s powers to be more reminiscent of Scarlett Witch or Captain Marvel as her power revolves more around cosmic energy manipulation rather than polymorphy, super strength and elasticity as is the case with the comics. The show has been welcomed by Marvel co stars Mark Ruffalo and Brie Larson who have congratulated the young actress for making her entry into the MCU. Mark Ruffalo tweeted “Marvel breaks new ground! Love you, @Marvel for reflecting on the world we live in. Welcome to the family, Kamala!” while Larson also said “You ARE a superhero, Kamala”. The show is directed by Bisha K. Ali and alongside Vallani stars a bunch of Asian and American actors including Aramis Knight, Fawad Khan, Mohan Kapoor, Nimra Bucha, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman and Travina Springer and will be released on June 8.
