Expel Pinaki Mishra for his alleged role in Mahua Mitra cash for query row : Odisha BJP

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 : Odisha state BJP Spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra on Friday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to expel Puri BJD MP Pinaki Mishra from the party for his alleged role in TMC MP Mahua Moitra cash for query row.
Mohapatra told newspersons here that it was clear from two affidavits submitted in CBI court and in the Ethics Committee of Parliament that business tycoon Darshan Hiranandani has given cash, furniture and other luxury items to Moitra to ask questions in Parliament.

He said Pinaki Mishra had taken the responsibility to keep the cash given to Moitra in safe custody.
Mohapatra said both the affidavits —one submitted by Hiranandani and the other by advocate J A Dehadrai have clearly mentioned about the involvement of Pinaki Mishra in the scandal.
He said Odisha is defamed due to the act of the BJD MP Pinaki Mishra and asked the Chief Minister to expel Mishra from the party for his anti-people activity.
The BJP state spokesperson also demanded Naveen Patnaik to order an inquiry into the matter by the Economic Offence Wing of Odisha police.
Showing a photograph of BJD MP PInaki Misra and TMC MP Mahua Moitra , the BJP leader said the affidavits also mentioned the Moitra and Mishra relation.
He wanted to know what sort of relation Mishra has with Moitra and the reason behind the intimacy between the two.
BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda in his social platform X said two decades back while he was a member of the Ethics Committee 11 MPs were expelled and prosecuted for cash for query scam.
He said the rules are the same now, irrespective of whether the consideration is cash or expensive gifts. The outcome must be the same.
In another post Panda said ‘’ The sordid details Darshan Hiranandani has disclosed in his sworn affidavit about Mohua Moitra’s misuse of her position as an MP are deeply disturbing.
Besides gross violations of Parliamentary ethics & rules, there are explicit references to corruption, security breaches, conspiracy & much more.” he said.
