TRS MLA’s Son Held In Suicide Abetment Case

Hyderabad, Jan 8: Days after businessman M. Naga Ramakrishna and three of his family members died in a suicide pact at Paloncha town, police has finally arrested the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA’s son Vanama Raghavendra Rao, the main accused of abetting the suicide of the family, at Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Friday night.

Ramakrishna and his wife immolated themselves after setting ablaze their two daughters at Paloncha town on Monday last.

After the selfie video and suicide statement of Ramakrishna went viral on social media on Thursday in which the businessman stated that Raghavendra Rao had asked him to send his wife for a personal meeting with him in Hyderabad to sort out his property related problems with his sisters. Activists of various political parties staged protests demanding the immediate arrest of Raghavendra, son of TRS legislator from Kothagudem Vanama Venkateshwar Rao.

Based on the selfie video, police had registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Raghavendra, who had absconded since the FIR lodged against him. The selfie video was also submitted in a local court.

Police formed eight teams earlier to nab the accused and finally they arrested him along with two of his associates at Dammapeta Mandal in Kothagudem district, Paloncha police said here on Saturday.

Besides this case, the accused is also involved in 12 other cases.

Raghavendra will be produced before the local court today and all the evidences gathered in the case will be submitted in the court, police added.

Acting on the instructions of Party President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, ruling TRS party General secretary Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Bhadradri-Kothagudem district party affairs incharge N. Naresh Reddy had suspended Raghavedra from the party in the wake of allegations against him.
