Puri, Jan 27: Rapist father arrested. In a highly shocking and shameful incident, a man was yesterday detained for allegedly raping his two-year-old daughter at Goudabada Sahi in Odisha’s Puri town.
As per the complaint with Puri Town police, the mother of the baby girl had accused her husband of raping their daughter. The complainant further alleged that her husband is a drunkard and used to abuse her both mentally and physically. On the basis of the FIR, police registered a case and detained the accused for questioning.
In another incident, one Subhasish Tripathy allegedly raped a five-year-old girl at a slum under Baliapanda police limits in the town, yesterday. Police registered a case and arrested Tripathy. He was produced before court and remanded to judicial custody after rejection of bail plea.
The two incidents come close on the heels of the rape of a minor girl by one Mahesh Mohanty (35) at Sidha Bakula lane here on January 23.
Mohanty had allegedly raped the girl on the rooftop of her house. Hailing from Jagatsinghpur district, Mohanty had criminal antecedents and was recently released from jail.
He absconded after committing the crime. Puri police have formed four teams to trace and nab him.
