At the premier medical college and hospital in Odisha, SCB Medical College, in a bizarre incident a couple was detained by the police on the charges of abduction of a newborn girl from the Special Newborn Care unit in the hospital.
The lifter in question was a woman called Sweety, of Cuttack. Sweety was detained along with her husband. She was exposed when she was about to return the baby girl and according to the complainant, Toofan Jena, from Puri had the baby delivered by his wife but she gave birth to a twin girls.
At around noon one of the newborn was taken to ICU for a jaundice detection. It was when “I went for admission and gave the pass, he was informed that, the child was gone missing “ said Toofan.
On the CCTV footage tracking the medical authorities as the parents of the baby girl lodged a complaint when the local PS investigated the matter.
