FIR against 7 for assaulting student for wearing skull cap in Karnataka

Bagalkot, May 29 : An FIR has been filed against seven people for allegedly assaulting a student who allegedly wore a skull cap on a college premises.
The case against the culprits including college principal and sub inspectors was filed following a direction from Banahatti Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court, police said on Sunday.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Naveed Hasan Tharathari, the victim.
The prosecution alleged that he was prevented from entering the Government First Grade College of Teradal on February 18 when he came wearing a skull cap.
He alleged that his religious sentiments also were bilittled and prayed before the court to take action against the college principal and police sub-inspector who boycotted him from the college.
Sustaining the submissions made by the Naveed, the court ordered the police to lodge an FIR against the accused.
Next hearing of the case has been posted to June 30.
Jamakhandi Deputy Superintendent of Police has been made investigator of the case.
Earlier, AS Pujara, the college principal, had registered a police complaint against Naveed and his father accusing them of assaulting him and obstructing him from discharging his duty.
