Corruption Charges: Vigilance Arrests Sundergarh ADM 

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: The State Vigilance on Sunday booked Additional District Magistrate of Sundergarh district, Biswajit Mohapatra on charges of corruption.

The Vigilance Cell has registered a case under Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(b)/12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 and was forwarded him to the Court today, a Vigilance official said.

The Vigilance unearthed movable and immovable property owned by the ADM and his family members, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Searches were carried out by multiple teams of the Vigilance in this matter. “Mohapatra has been arrested in the case and will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar today,” the official added.

During the searches, the corrupt official was found in possession of over Rs 3 lakh cash, one double-storey building worth about Rs 89 lakh at Naharkanta on outskirts of Bhubaneswar, one flat at Asiana in Rasulgarh area in Bhubaneswar, over Rs 2 crore Bank FDs and savings, 10 plots in Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur, gold ornaments weighing around 350 gms, cement godown in name of his wife near his residence in Balianta on Bhubaneswar outskirts, deposits of Rs 39 lakh mutual fund and Rs 2 lakh NPS.
