Bhubaneswar: A brown sugar trader escaped from police custody while being taken to Kujang court in Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday.
Reportedly, Rabindra Mandal of Atharbanki had been nabbed by Paradeep Model Police on charges of smuggling brown sugar.
He was being taken to the court when he escaped. A case in this regard was lodged at Paradeep Lock Police Station.
Subsequently, both Paradeep Model and Paradeep Lock police launched a manhunt to nab Mandal but he is still absconding.
