Naveen Announces Rs.6000 Covid Assistance To Newspaper Hawkers In Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Every registered Newspaper hawker in Odisha will receive Rs.6000 as covid assistance. The registered hawkers have been covered under the unorganized social sector security scheme and the covid assistance will be directly transferred to their accounts.
The government has provided Rs 4.38 crore assistance to the hawkers from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The Information and Public Relations department of the state government has prepared a digital database of 7, 300 hawkers for the purpose.
Providing the assistance, the Chief Minister said hawkers are a bridge between the newspaper and the readers. Braving sun, rain and cold and even during the covid pandemic they have supplied newspapers to the readers
Patnaik said along with the covid assistance, the newspaper hawkers would be given assistance by bringing them under the unorganized social security Board.
A sum of Rs. 2 lakh would be provided to the family of hawkers in the event of their death in an accident and Rs one lakh for natural death. In addition to it, arrangements have also been made for providing assistance to hawkers fully disabled in accidents.
Provision has been made to provide an assistance of Rs 1. 5 lakh to Hawkers fully disabled in an accident, Rs 80,000 for losing both limbs, and Rs 40,000 assistance to hawkers losing one limb.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Housing and Urban Development department would construct a work shed at district level to help the workers work smoothly.
