Heavy Police Deployment In Puri To Ensure Implementation Of COVID Protocols

Puri, Dec 31: The authorities on Friday deployed nine platoons of police force in this pilgrim town of Odisha to ensure implementation of the protocols that were issued by the state government to prohibit zero night and New year celebrations.

The state government has prohibited the zero-night celebration and new year celebrations across the state from December 31 to January 2. Puri SP K. Vishal told news persons that the entire town has been divided into 13 sectors with one senior officer in charge of a sector.
One DSP, two inspectors and three platoons of police have been deployed on the sea beach to prevent Zero night celebration.

No visitor will be allowed on the beach after 10 pm, the SP said. Police pickets have been erected at all strategic places to detect drunk drivers. This apart, police personnel have been deployed at Konark, Ramchandi temple and all picnic spots in the district to prevent gatherings as the government has also prohibited picnics at public places across the state.
