First steel plant to be set up in Kendujhar district

Keonjhar, Jul 10 : The first steel plant is set to be set up in Kendujhar district which is either known to be destination of the country’s iron ore mines. Rungata Mines has approved a high-level project approval committee for an integrated steel project with a production capacity of three million tonnes in the district at a cost of Rs 420 crore.

Now the news is making waves across the district. The project will be set up at Karakhendra in Champua. A thank-you event was organized by the citizens of the district to thank the Chief Minister for this historic decision.

Responding, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that he had a long-standing dream of a mining-rich steel plant in Kendujhar. He was approached by legislators and people from all walks of life, starting with legislators in the district, for the steel project. The Chief Minister congratulated the Steel Project on the implementation of the project in the district today and wished everyone the best for the speedy completion of the project.

“Bijubabu has always been keen on the development of Kendujhar,” he said. On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a new nursing college would be opened in Kendujhar. The Chief Minister said that the mega piped water supply in Kendujhar would provide piped drinking water to every household in the district. He said the district’s road improvement program would be accelerated. The Chief Minister once again sought the cooperation of all so that all government projects could be accomplished on time.
