Union Minister Harsh Vardhan dropped from Cabinet over ‘mismanagement’ of Covid-19 pandemic

New Delhi, Jul 7 : Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan was on Wednesday dropped from the Narendra Modi Cabinet against the backdrop of ‘mismanagement’ of Covid pandemic in the country.Meanwhile, Union Ministers Santosh Gangwar, Ramesh Pokhriyal, Sanjay Dhotre and Debashree Chaudhuri tendered their resignations ahead of the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet, official sources said.As per the sources, the ministers handed over their resignations during a meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence.While Mr Vardhan was in charge of the Health Ministry and Ministry of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Mr Gangwar was heading the Labour Ministry and Mr Pokhriyal was holding the charge of Education Ministry.Mr Dhotre was the Minister of State for Education while Ms Chaudhuri was holding the portfolio of Minister of State of Women and Child Development. The Union Cabinet reshuffle and expansion is scheduled to be held at at 1800 hrs this evening .
