Army helps evacuate over 80 stranded locals from flood affected areas in Kolhapur

Pune : Stepping up its relief and rescue operation in Sangli, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri, the Indian Army’s flood relief columns in coordination with the civil administration on Sunday evacuated over 80 stranded locals from the flood affected areas of Bastwad, Kolhapur.
All out efforts are being made by the Army’s flood relief columns to ensure safe evacuation of all people from the affected areas, a senior Army officer coordinating Flood Relief Operations was quoted as saying in a press release here.
In addition to urgent medical relief, distribution of food and drinking water to the rescued people is also being provided by the Army, the released added.
