Air Force MiG-21 Plane Crashes, Pilot Dead

Jaisalmer, Dec 25 : A MiG-21 Air Force aircraft crashed in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on Friday evening in Sum police station area, killing the pilot.

According to sources, a MiG-21 fighter jet of IAF crashed in Sardari village near the Indo-Pak border. The pilot of the aircraft has been martyred in the accident.

Jaisalmer District Collector Ashish Modi and District Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh have reached the spot. Police and administration teams are involved in relief and rescue work.

The Indian Air Force had confirmed the accident with a post on its official Twitter handle.

“This evening, around 8:30 pm, a MiG-21 aircraft of IAF met with a flying accident in the western sector during a training sortie. Further details are awaited. An inquiry is being ordered,” said the tweet.

A few days ago, an Air Force plane had crashed in Coonoor region of Tamil Nadu, in which 14 people, including CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife, were killed.
