Compulsory Retirement for Corrupt Crorepati Officer

Bhubaneswar: Pratap Kumar Samal, the suspended Deputy Manager of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) who had been arrested by Odisha Vigilance on charges of possessing disproportionate assets, was sent on compulsory retirement on 18th November.

Odisha Vigilance had recently conducted a simultaneous raids on the houses and properties associated with Samal and found him in possession of assets 1021% more than his legitimate sources of income.

It is worthwhile to mention that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has continued his efforts to maintain integrity and morality in public life and to provide services to the people through a transparent, efficient, and accountable administration. According to the Chief Minister, the state government has taken a zero-tolerance policy against corrupt and incompetent officials.

In this context, the State Government today sent Pratap Kumar Samal on compulsory retirement due to incompetence and corruption. With this, around 131 officials have been awarded compulsory retirement by the State Government till date.
