Kanpur/Lucknow : CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met murdered Kanpur property dealer Manish Gupta’s wife Meenakshi and her family.
The CM assured the family that government will not spare any of the culprit. Gupta had been killed during a police raid in a hotel in Gorakhpur, which is also Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s constituency.
Manish Gupta’s death is now gaining political dimension before the upcoming assembly polls.
“We are getting the investigation done, and we are with you in your sorrow. It is a sad incident and whsooever is guilty will not be spared,” the CM said to the family of Manish Gupta here on Thursday afternoon
On the recommendation of CM Yogi Adityanath, wife of deceased Meenakshi Gupta will be appointed as OSD in Kanpur Development Authority.
CM Yogi has accepted all the demands of Ms Meenakshi Gupta, wife of deceased Manish Gupta including a government job, transfer of the case to Kanpur and CBI investigation.
“We are completely satisfied after meeting with the CM, a family member said to the media.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Manish Gupta was cremated on the banks of Ganga on early Thursday morning amid tight security.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, on Thursday clarified that the unfortunate incident happened during checking of the hotels on the orders of SSP, Gorakhpur on Monday night.
He said that Manish Gupta was unable to show his ID during the checking following which he tried to escape but fell down and was critically injured as a result. Manish died while he was being treated, he said.
Before CM Yogi Adityanath reached Kanpur, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav arrived there by road and met Manish Gupta’s father and wife Meenakshi.
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) President Shivpal Singh Yadav also met the family while Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will travel from Lucknow to Kanpur this evening to meet the family.
Akhilesh Yadav after meeting the family members demanded that the wife of the deceased Manish Gupta should get a compensation of Rs 2 crores.
He alleged that such incidents are happening continuously under the Yogi government. “If action had been taken against the guilty policemen in the past, Manish Gupta would have been alive”, he said.
Later a video was posted on social media where Manish Gupta’s wife was seen shouting from her balcony asking the SP workers to go away from her house. These SP wirkers had assembled in front of her house and were raising slogans against the UP government.
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party President Shivpal Singh Yadav expressed surprise over the murder of Kanpur property dealer Manish Gupta in Gorakhpur and questioned the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
After Shivpal Singh Yadav, now Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is also scheduled to go to Kanpur in the middle of her Lucknow tour to meet the relatives of Manish Gupta. Priyanka Gandhi could reach Kanpur after 4 pm on Thursday evening after a meeting at the office of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.
