Any laxity in covid guidelines will be disastrous for all of us- Naveen

Bhubaneswar : Any laxity in observing the Covid guidelines may bring disaster for all of us , Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today warned .

Reviewing the Covid situation today, Mr.Patnaik described the Covid guidelines as the most powerful weapon to fight against coronavirus. The Covid appropriate behaviour is also equally important for all of us, he remarked.

Expressing his concern over the surge in Covid positive cases from USA to Kerala, Mr Patnaik stressed on the strict implementation of covid appropriate behaviour to remain safe from the third wave of covid.

The Chief Minister said “we have to be more careful for the children as they have not yet been vaccinated”.

Mr Patnaik warned that the head of the institution would be held accountable if any negligence in the implementation of covid guidelines is noticed anywhere.

He directed the administration to constitute special squad teams and make surprise visits to the institutions to check whether the covid guidelines are properly followed by them or not.

Mr Patnaik also directed officials to keep a vigil on the weekly hat, market, religious institutions and health care centres to ensure that covid guidelines are strictly implemented .

The Chief Minister directed regular testing of the high risk groups like health workers, school going children, pregnant women, government employees and the police.

Expressing concern over the report of infections among the health workers in certain places Mr Patnaik directed the officials to sensitise the health workers and employees engaged in collecting blood sample in both government and private sectors time and again

He said since the delta variant is more infectious, the officials must keep a constant vigil on the situation and focus on the micro containment zone.



The District Collectors were directed to ensure that every one takes two doses of the vaccine.



Mr Patnaik appealed to people to remain extra alert during the coming festive season in view of infection surged in Kerala after the celebration of Onam, .



He said responsible behaviour during the festive season will play a decisive role in controlling the third wave and appealed to all to wear masks, wash hands, maintain social distance and to avoid crowding places.



The Chief Minister said at present lockdown has been relaxed keeping the interest of the common people but this does not mean that we will not follow the covid guidelines strictly.



He warned that if needed the state government would be forced to impose lockdown again in the state keeping in view the collective interest of the people.



Meanwhile , the covid tally in the state today surged to 10,12,805 with the detection of 638new cases in the past 24 hours.

The death toll also mounted to 8062 with seven more people succumbing to the virus.The active cases further reduced to6900 while the recovery surged to 9,97,790 with 727 more people being recovered in the state on Monday.
