Sambalpur, March 29: Three accused persons detained in Dhanupali police station in this Western Odisha town, have escaped from police custody on Monday. Police sources on Tuesday said three persons were caught from the city railway station on March 27 last while stealing diesel from the parking vehicles.
They were brought to the police station to be forwarded to court on Monday but they managed to flee away from the police custody. The police had detained a lady sweeper who is suspected to help the accused flee from the police custody. Since it is a sensitive case, Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar has entrusted the SDPO Pradeep Sahu to conduct an enquiry and submit a report as soon as possible. “Since all the accused persons are from Sambalpur city, we will nab them very soon,” the SP said.
