Asian Wrestling: Anshu, Radhika Win Silver
Ulaanbaatar, April 22: Tokyo Olympian Anshu Malik (57kg) and Radhika (65kg) bagged silver medals, while Manisha won bronze at the Asian Wrestling Championships on Friday.
Indian women wrestlers finished the campaign with five medals (two silver and three bronze).
Overall, India have won two silver and eight bronze medals so far in the tournament.
Anshu had a flying start as she won three matches with a technical superiority before losing the gold medal bout to World Champion Tsugumi Sakurai of Japan via Fall.
In the opening bout, Anshu outplayed Uzbekistan’s Shokhida Akhmedova 11-0 and defeated Danielle Sue Ching Lim of Singapore 10-0 to enter the semifinal.
In the semifinal, she continued her dominating form and trounced local wrestler Bolortuya Khurelkhuu 11-0. Radhika started with a loss to Miwa Morikawa of Japan 0-10. She then bounced back with three back-to-back wins, beating Uzbekistan’s Ariukhan Jumabaeva via fall 4-2 and Purevsuren Ulziisaikhan of Mongolia.
She registered 10-0 win over Dariga Aben of Kazakhstan to grab silver medal.
Manisha defeated Hanbit Lee of South Korea in the bronze medal match. She defeated Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki in the semifinal. In the quarterfinal, she got better of Ayaulym Kassymova of Kazakhstan 9-0.
