Bhubaneswar : Odisha government today released guidelines for October to check the spread of Covid infection in the state during the festive season.
Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena said the restrictions imposed on August 31 last for the month of September will be in force in October and continue till November 1.
Mr Jena said the night curfew restrictions will continue to remain in force in all urban areas across the State from 10 PM to 5 AM from October 1 to November 1,2021.
He said , however, special night curfew shall be imposed in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from 8PM to 5 AM for ten days from October 11 to 20, to protect the health of the people.
All markets and other commercial establishments will be allowed to operate till 8 pm daily during these 10 days till October 20 in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
There shall be no weekend shutdown across the state.
The local administration have been empowered to take appropriate measures to ensure full implementation of the order, Mr Jena said.
Earlier, the State government had issued a comprehensive guideline in the month of August, imposing a complete ban on the festivities and congregation to prevent further spread of Covid-19 in the State.
The COVID-19 graph is on a declining trend with the State reporting less than 1000 cases on a daily basis for the past few weeks.
He said the Centre has urged the State governments to observe all the previous guidelines during the festive season in the next two to three months to check the Covid infection.
“We have decided to comply with the Centre’s advice,” he said. ” If people follow Covid appropriate behaviour like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing , washing hands and using sanitizer we can win this war against Covid-19,” Mr Jena said.
The government has also banned the sale and use of fire crackers during the festive season.
During the night curfew the District Magistrate, Muncipal Corportions, Police Commissioner can allow or restrict any activities as would be necessary in the interest of the people and to prevent the spread of the virus.
