UP Tragic: 6 die, 8 injured as SUV rams into tree
Shravasti (UP), Apr 15: Six persons were killed and eight others were injured when a SUV rammed into a tree in Ikauna area of Shravasti district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, a senior police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Prachi Singh said that the incident took place near Sundarai village when the SUV rammed into a tree around 6 am. “The SUV was taken out with the help of an earthmover and the injured were taken to the community health center where doctors declared 6 dead,” she said.
She said that eight persons have been referred to medical college in Bahraich in serious condition. “All the victims were coming from Ludhiana in Punjab to attend the last rites of a relative. “The deceased have been identified as Heera Lal (30), Rama Devi, Mukesh (30), Putti Lal (30), Veeru alias Amit (9) and car driver Harish (42),” she said.
The SP said that while the car driver was a resident of Ludhiana, others were residents of Shravasti and neighbouring districts. “The injured include Suresh Kumar (42), Nanke alias Sushil Kumar (35), Neetu (28), Bablu (34), Sundara alias Sarita (30), Roohi (8), Lado (5) and Neelam (25). They have been sent to Bahraich for treatment,” she said.
