Three Burnt To Death, Three Others Critical as Truck Catches Fire After Collision
Three people were burnt to death on the spot, and three others sustained varying degrees of injuries as two trailer trucks and a 16-wheeler lorry were gutted in fire following a collision among them near Jharasuguda Sadar police station on National Highway 49 last night.
Three persons were also injured in the accident and they have been admitted to the hospital.
According to sources, the mishap took place when a coal-laden truck was heading towards Jharsuguda. Suddenly two other trucks came from the opposite direction, following which, the coal-laden truck driver lost his control of the wheels and collided with the other trucks.
On being informed, the police arrived at the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to a nearby healthcare facility. The identity of the deceased and critically injured is yet to be ascertained. The police have started an investigation into the accident.
Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
As per police sources, the occupants in the car were from Dhenkanal. The car was moving on the wrong side of the road and the occupants were suspected to be in inebriated conditions.
