The owner of a gym in Odisha’s Cuttack city repeatedly raped a girl and blackmailed her with obscene photographs forcing her to have physical intimacy with him for several months.
Though the series of physical abuse started in March 2020, the matter came to the light recently after the victim lodged a complaint in this regard with the Markat Nagar police in Cuttack on Saturday.
According to the complaint, the victim came in contact with gym owner Chinmay Swain soon after joining it in January 2022. Later, in March last year, the gym owner proposed to her and they developed a relationship.
Chinmay allegedly offered the victim a bottle of ‘refreshment drink’ at the gym on March 16, 2022, and the girl felt drowsy after consuming it. Taking advantage of the situation, the gym owner raped the girl and took objectionable photographs.
Subsequently, the gym owner forced the victim to have a physical relationship with him on several occasions, blackmailing her with obscene photographs. According to the complaint, the gym owner raped her several times at the gym as well as at his house.
The accused allegedly exploited the girl in various other ways too, including fleecing money from her. In her complaint, the victim alleged that the gym owner even threatened to kill her if she did not oblige him physically.
The Markat Nagar Police have started an investigation into the allegations.
