PayCm burst, Karnataka rattled by the Lokayukta expose arresting BJP MLA’s son

What has played itself out in Karnataka is that, the arrest of the BJP MLA’s son in Karnataka, while taking a bribe of Rs.40 lakhs reportedly on behalf of his father, has brought to the fore that Lokayukta cannot always be deemed being guided by pressure of the power that be.
The Lokayukta for once at least unleashed its weapon against corruption with strong hands. Reminding the days of Justice Santosh Hegde who refused to deviate from the paths of the institutions he was heading.
Keeping it under pressure In 1984, the Karnataka Lokayukta was formed to investigate and report on corruption in the state government and to redress public grievances. However, the quasi-judicial body has seen several upheavals in the past, with the ruling government wanting to keep it at bay.
The timing of the expose should worry the Bomai led dispensation as the Assembly polls barely weeks away. Lokayukta is back in the focus after conducting raids at the residence of Prashanth Madal and discovering over Rs 8 crore in unaccounted-for cash. Why the body was made inert for quite a long time that CM has to explain. What made it revive itself?
Again the credit taking exercise as Bomai claims the credit for its activation. But what is the reality that needs to be explained here. It was almost an ambush as the Lokayukta arrested Prashanth while he was allegedly receiving the bribe on behalf of his father, who is also the Chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), which makes the brand ‘Mysore Sandal Soap’.
Then there was a shocker on Friday, as the investigations continued, nearly Rs 6 crore, was found in unaccounted-for cash at the residence of Prashant Madal. Then the onslaught from the opposition demanding CM Vasavaraj Bomai’s resignation,who quickly became on his guard saying he in fact made the Lokayukta active.
Former Lokayukta Justice Hegde fired a stunner holding both the BJP and Congress for soft pedaling over the reactivation of the body. That must have pained the both the Congress & the BJP.
