BJP and Congress corporators stage night-long protest outside CMC office
The tussle between Mayor, Corporators of opposition parties BJP and Congress staged night-long protest outside CMC office demanding transfer of the chief executive engineer. They also demanded the withdrawal of a bill that was passed in their absence.
Cuttack Mayor Subas Singh and Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim talked to the protestors last night in an attempt to dissuade them from continuing the agitation but the latter turned down the request on the ground that the CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pawan Kalyan did not attend the discussion.
Corporators of the Opposition BJP and Congress created ruckus during the 8th Council Meeting of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) over various issues yesterday.
Congress corporators alleged that neither the Congress MLAs from the Barbati-Cuttack constituencies were invited to the inauguration of various projects in the region, nor were their names mentioned on the plaques. The BJP corporators supported the allegations made by Congress.
After the meeting, both Congress and BJP corporators first sat in a protest inside the House and subsequently moved the protest outside the House.
