Missing Odisha Woman Cricketer Rajashree Swain Found Dead
Bhubaneswar: The body of Odisha woman cricketer Rajashree Swain, who had been missing since January 11, was found hanging in the Brahmanbasta forest in Athagarh of Cuttack district. The police are investigating the circumstances of her death and have yet to confirm the reasons for her sudden disappearance from a training camp in Bajrakabati.
Rajashree had recently failed to qualify for the Odisha team in a national-level tournament set to take place in Puducherry. The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) had filed a missing person’s complaint with the Mangalabag police after her disappearance. Her scooter and helmet were found abandoned in a forest in the Athagarh area and her mobile phone has been off since the day she went missing.
Rajashree was a member of the 25-member team that participated in a cricket training camp organized in Bajrakabati, preparing for the upcoming national-level tournament in Puducherry. She was reportedly under stress after not being selected for the final team, and had told her coach that she was going to meet her father in Puri on January 11. Her coach filed a missing complaint after she failed to return.
