Balasore: One person was killed and five injured when an ambulance proceeding toward West Bengal met with an accident on NH 16 near Jaleswar.
The mishap took place at Ambuliatha bypass when a speeding truck rammed into the ambulance which was ferrying a patient Irshad Khan to Keshpur village of Medinipur Sadar subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district from AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The truck hit the ambulance which led to the death of Khan while the others were shifted to a local hospital for treatment. The truck fled from the spot while the police registered a case and sent the body of the deceased for autopsy.
