Bhubaneswar, Nov 27 : A builder Manoj Pattnaik was arrested by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Bhubaneswar on Saturday for duping Rs.1.72 crore with the promise of providing them flats.
EOW sources said Patnaik, Managing Director of Basera Designs, was arrested from Bhubaneswar in a case filed by one Jyoti Shankar Panda and three others. He was later produced before the Designated Court under OPID Act, Cuttack.
The MD of Basera Designs (P) Ltd and his associates of the company had cheated Rs.1,15,82,550 on the pretext of providing flats at Sijua on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar city.
During the investigation, the EOW found that Patnaik along with his wife Suchitra Bisoi, also the director of Basera Designs and others had cheated many gullible investors on the pretext of providing them flats in their project ‘Basera Fresco’ at Sijua to the tune of approximately Rs 1.72 crore.
Pattnaik has also cheated many investors in different other projects, EOW sources said.
