ED serves notice to Mehbooba’s mother in money laundering case
New Delhi, Jul 6 : Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday served a fresh summon to the mother of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to appear before it and record her statement on July 14 in connection with a money laundering case.
ED move came after the day when the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti chose not to meet the visiting Delimitation Commission in Srinagar on Tuesday.
According to the summon served to Ms Gulshan Nazir, in her late seventies, to appear before the assistant director Sunil Kumar Meena, who is the Investigating Officer (IO) in the case, at the central probe agency’s office in Srinagar.
Ms Nazir is the wife of former Union Home Minister and ex- J&K chief minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
“ED sent a summon to my mother to appear in person for unknown charges. In its attempts to intimidate political opponents, GOI (Government of India) doesn’t even spare senior citizens. Agencies like NIA (National Investigation Agency) and ED are now its tools to settle scores.”, Mehbooba Mufti twitted today.
