Cuttack: A video of a patient being treated inside an auto-rickshaw under a mobile torchlight has gone viral on social media. The incident reportedly occurred at Niali Community Health Centre (CHC) in Cuttack district on Thursday night.
Reportedly, Sheikh Sajid of Purba Khanda slum in Niali area brought his father to the CHC in an auto-rickshaw. When Sajid reached the CHC, the two beds there had already been occupied. As a result, the doctors had to treat his father inside the auto-rickshaw.
Medical Superintendent of the CHC, Dr. S Navin, admitted the incident and expressed his concern. He, however, said that it was the patient who insisted on treatment inside the auto-rickshaw. He directed the doctors at the CHC to refer patients to other nearby hospitals if they find the beds occupied.
