Bhubaneswar, Aug 30 : Over 41 lakh farmers will receive the next installment of Rs.2000 each under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KA LIA) scheme on the occasion of the upcoming Nuakhai festival celebrated across Western Odisha,
Nuakhai is observed in Western Odisha to welcome the season’s new rice crop. This year, it will be celebrated on September 1.
The Odisha government had earlier announced that beneficiaries of the KALIA scheme in the state will receive the assistance twice a year during Akshaya Tritiya and Nuakhai
The amount will be directly credited through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode to the farmer’s account, official sources said.
The state government has already made budgetary provision for the Kalia scheme this year while extending the scheme by another three years.
Small, marginal farmers and landless agricultural households are eligible for livelihood support under the scheme.
