Madras HC dismisses bail pleas of self-styled godman & POCSO case accused Shivshankar Baba
Chennai : The Madras High Court today dismissed two bail pleas
of POCSO case accused and self-styled godman Shivshankar Baba.
The Godman, who runs a residential school on the outskirts of the city, was
arrested in connection with three cases regisered against him under the
Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012.
Dismissing the two bail pleas, Mr Justice M.Dhandapani did not find any ground
to enlarge him on bail.
The judge was also informed that the CB-CID had already filed a chargesheet in
the cases.
In his petition, Shivshankar Baba had claimed that he was not involved in the
management of the private residential school, at Kelambakkam on the ECR
whose former students had lodged several complaints against him of sexual
abuse.
The Godman sought bail on health grounds as he was a heart patient and was
also suffering from various other ailments.
