N Korea Likely To Test Nuke Soon
Seoul, May 16: North Korea could possibly conduct its seventh nuclear test in a “short period of time”.
The South Korean military is not ruling out the possibility of the North conducting a nuclear test in a “short period of time,” Yonhap News Agency quoted an official of the country’s military as saying.
This comes days before the meeting between US President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol which is scheduled for Saturday, or afterward in Seoul.
“Our military is bracing for the worst-case scenario of the North conducing a nuclear test in a short period of time, and it is maintaining a firm readiness posture,” the official told reporters on condition of anonymity.
According to source, Pyongyang has made ‘considerable’ preparations for the nuclear test at their Punggye-ri nuclear test site and signs of such kind of preparation have been detected since March.
Last Friday, a South Korea’s presidential office’s official said that Pyongyang appears “ready” for a nuclear test.
