Mother’s Love Beyond Borders: Nurse’s Mom To Go To Yemen To Seek Paradon

Thiruvananthapuram, April 16: The mother of Malayalee nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in Yemen, will go to Yemen to seek paradon from the family of Yemeni national Talal Abdo Mahdi who was killed by her daughter in 2017. Nimisha’s mother Premkumari, her eight-year-old daughter sought permission from the Union Ministry of External Affairs to travel to Yemen to seek pardon from the family of Talal Abdo Mahdi, whom the Palakkad-based Kerala nurse had accused of abusing and torturing her for two years.
Meanwhile, Retired Supreme Court judge Justice Kurien Joseph came forward to support ‘The Save Nimisapriya International Action Council’ to secure the release of the nurse from Yemen and collect funds to give as ‘blood money’ to Talal’s family, sources said on Sunday. Earlier, the Union Government clarified that it cannot directly negotiate in the case citing legal issues. However, the Crentre expressed its willingness to extend consular assistance to the Nimisha’s family and the Council. Four members of the Council also sought the Centre’s permission to go to Yemen to negotiate with the Talal’s family for paying ‘blood money’ to save the life of the nurse. UNI
