Bhubaneswar, Apr 3: In an unprecedented events, unidentified miscreants have allegedly vandalized over 40 Chulahs (earthen oven) inside the Rosaghara (kitchen) of Sri Mandir at Puri. The unusual and unfortunate incident, no doibt for sure raising questions on security arrangements at the centuries-old shrine.
It is suspected that the miscreants vandalized the Chulahs after preparation of food for evening rituals on Saturday. However, who and why committed such act is yet to be ascertained. Sources said the pithagada, Kothabhoga, Satapuri and Thaliada chulhas have been ransacked.
However, the exact reason that how the chulhas got damaged is not yet known. It has sparked resentment among lakhs of devotees in the State and outside.
It is pertinent to mention that the Puri Srimandir’s Rosa Ghara is the largest and the biggest kitchen in the world. Several types of hearths are used in the kitchen of the Sri Mandir to prepare different types of ‘Bhoga’(Prasad) for Lord Jagannath and his sibling deities.
Hundreds of cooks (Suaras), who are directly engaged in cooking, are only allowed inside the kitchen of the Holy Shrine.
